A New Work in Progress: Oracle of Seasons Link

This is my second Link of the year. I haven't had much for variety so far. Lots of Yoshi's Island and lots of Zelda. This stitch however is for charity. It stitches extremely fast as it is a Gameboy Colour sprite and only 12 colours. I've edited the sprite quite a bit  and recharted since I first posted about it. The original image is Link on Epona from the opening cutscene. I removed the reins that appeared in the crop. There were a lot of random pixels and oddly placed colours as well.

By the way, I love this game. I only had Pokemon Silver and Oracle of Seasons on Gameboy Colour now that I think about it. I guess I wasn't much for handhelds until the GBA SP and NDS. Anyone remember using a flashlight to play Pokemon Red/Blue in the dark? Anyway!
I want to finish this one as soon as possible because my brother recently asked for another stitching. He wanted something Donkey Kong related and I spent some time working on SNES patterns. Then I showed him the Brawl sprite. Needless to say, my next project is yet another Abysswolf sprite. It will be my largest project yet and I'm excited to work on something huge. =P If the fabric ever gets here, that is.

WOW WOW WOW. I was looking for low color bigger projects, and this looks GREAT! Do you mind if I do this project as well? I mean, only if I can't find anything else, but this looks amazing for only 12 colors. I'll check out the spriters resource for some GBC sprites, I'll try not to trend on ground that's already covered =D.

Of course I don't mind. =P http://spriters-resource.com/gameboy/lozoos/sheet/9045 This is the exact sheet I edited from. Intro/ending scenes are good for finding large sprites with low colour counts.

Thanks so much, I'll take a look at more GBC sprites before I fall back onto Link. Thanks for the inspiration!

sweet! How long does it take you do something like this?

About six or seven hours so far? I don't really time myself but I try to put an hour or two when time permits.

I agree with Con Queso - it totally looks like there's more colours; I think it must be the dark brown shading around Link's face and ears. It adds depth. I love how he looks so fiercely determined here, like 'point me to the quest' :)

I was always a Super Mario girl (never got into the handhelds either, actually), but I used to like playing The Legend of Zelda, even though I never got very far :P

BTW, I'm a spontaneous stitcher too! I don't keep track of my stitching hours. I know a lot of people do, and I tried it for a while, but it just gets way too regimented and, for me at least, takes some of the joy out of it.

Hey if you don't mind I'm going to mention your blog someday on my blog since you gave me the idea to stitch a bib for my friend, is that cool?

I got stuck in Oracle of Seasons and never finished it. Same for Oracle of Ages :[

Early TLOZ games were so freaking hard. Or maybe I'm used to the challenge so the newer ones seem so easy. I'll probably never beat Zelda 2. =[
