July 28, 2013

I was just resting my eyes.

I'm not dead! Having not posted for over a year, I decided to do one big post of everything I've done in the interim. I have a project lined up to start as soon as my fabric order comes in.

I stitched Arcanine for my gaming partner in crime:
Arcanine
Pokemon Black & White
Nintendo DS
Started and Finished: Summer 2012
Fabric: 28 count linen (white)
Colours: 10
Size: 3033 stitches

I stitched Leonardo for a birthday with the intention of doing all four turtles. It is not a project I will finish. There are other TMNT sprites I would rather stitch instead.
Leonardo
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters
SNES
Started and Finished: Fall 2012
Fabric: 28 count Jobelan (lambswool)
Colours: 12
Size: 948 stitches

This was the project I started immediately after finishing Pokemon Trainer. It became a UFO until I decided it would make a great xmas gift for my brother as it was our favourite game to play together. (Forgive the poor image quality; it was taken with my phone and not my DSLR.)
Rocky & Pocky
Pocky & Rocky
SNES
Started: June 2012
Finished: December 2012
Fabric: 14 count aida (ecru)
Colours: 12
Size: 4083 stitches

Finally, Abysswolf's Samus Aran:

Red Yoshis on a Tatami

I was sitting in my ride today and decided I needed to pimp it out a bit. =] I stitched these little guys today onto perforated plastic. I'm going to sew them together and hang them from the rearview mirror of my red Kia Soul. ♥ At first I was going to edit one of the sprites so it would be the back of Yoshi. But this way, he can be seen from the outside and inside. I don't know if I want to outline him in black or red as of yet.

Fabric: 14 count perforated plastic
Colours: 11
Size: 920 stitches

I'll put up some pictures of the finish, hopefully tomorrow. =]

Tetris Attack: Raphael the Raven

The final Tetris Attack piece! I saved one of my favourites for last. In Yoshi's Island, you fight him on the moon. Pretty rad. Then in Paper Mario, he is the leader of a bunch of reformed evil ravens. He is pretty ridiculous. ♥
All done with Tetris Attack now! I will do a big group shot of them all together when I get the chance. I'm still looking for sprite rips of the next set I want to do. Maybe I will do another Eeveelution first.

Tetris Attack: Hookbill the Koopa

Here is Hookbill the Koopa! He seems to be feeling the same way I am right now. I am currently in the middle of a move. Stress! Also, DK is finished. Honest. I have to iron him out first before I show him off and get him framed. Tomorrow I will post my final Tetris Attack piece. ♥
"Little Koopa come through for me now! Go forth and rock Yoshi's world!" -Kamek

Robo + Atropos Valentine

I've been wanting to stitch this sprite for a long time and this Hallmark holiday was an ideal opportunity. Robo and Atropos from Chrono Trigger are two robots in love. How romantical. ♥ I stitched them on baby pink DMC aida. I made the stitching into a simple card for V-Day. I hope to keep up the tradition of making one per year.

Colours: 20

Happy Valentines Day, everyone!

2/19/2011: I edited this post to upload a better photo. This photo captures the subtlety of the pink fabric much better and the colours look more true.

Tetris Attack: Lunge Fish

This one is a cautionary tale. I used three different brands of beads on this guy and they all melt at different rates. Perlers melt the fastest, then PhotoPearls, then Hama. Also PhotoPearls are a bit smaller and thus don't fuse together as seemlessly. The ironing is quite terrible; I was very rushed. >_> I may have to redo it as it has distorted quite a bit.

Lunge Fish is one of those things that is so ugly, it's kind of cute.  Lunge Fish is one of those things that reinforces my fear of water. o_0 I wonder who actually chooses to play as him in Tetris Attack?
Only three more of these bad boys to go and I'll go back to beading my favourite thing, Pokemon! Also I finished my Valentine stitch on Friday but am waiting to post it until the 14th. =] I didn't get much done yesterday on my Unlikely Partnership.

Tetris Attack: Froggy

This is my fiftieth post and Froggy is the ninth entry in my Tetris Attack bead sprite set. He is apparently a frog pirate in Yoshi's Island. And Prince Froggy in said game is a very interesting boss. He swallows Yoshi  who then escapes through Froggy's intestines. o_0 About as weird as Yoshi's digestion/reproductive system anyway. Eat enemies -> make eggs?
And speaking of frogs, I have been doing a lot of that on my Hogwarts Crest. I keep making counting errors which I can't say happens very often. Frustrating. I think it's because Slytherin truly is evil...I hope to have an update early February. Also, I finished the stitching aspect of the biscornu I've been working on. I will teach myself the sewing part tonight and share the result here soon.

Tetris Attack: Kamek

Finally getting on with my goal of finishing my Tetris Attack set this year. Only five left after this! I'm almost done after more than a year. I have beading attention deficit disorder.

Kamek is the Big Bad of Yoshi's Island and frankly, I love him. He's adorable. In Tetris Attack, he curses Yoshi's Island and now we, the players, must beat one of the best puzzle games ever to set the world right. We owe a lot to Kamek the Magikoopa.

Commission: Spider-Man Wedding Announcement

My first commission is complete. Exciting. =] This sprite was kind of a pain because there is a limited range of dark reds and blues in DMC colours. I had to manually edit this sprite quite a bit but I think it turned out fine. I mostly relied on KG-Chart for once. I tend to prefer PCStitch but KG-Chart gave me better initial colours to play with.

Spider-Man, Spider-Man...

While I am a huge Spider-Man fan, this is actually a commission piece. My first one at that. =] Basically, I am turning this sprite from Marvel Super Heroes: War of the Gems (SNES) into a wedding announcement. I plan to put the names and date in the bottom right corner in the web. I did want to take a break from black fabric but oh well. Here is what I have done so far with four different blues:
Needless to say, my Hogwarts Crest is on a slight haitus. I also finished a birthday present yesterday but I'll wait to post until that day. =]

Green Glove and Slugger

I threw together a couple of ornaments that could be for xmas or year-round. They are the Baseball Boys from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. My little brother in law is a baseball boy himself so I made these for him. =] Green Glove is the green one with the glove (!) and the yellow guy is Slugger. Yoshi's Island has such beautiful art and bright colours that I want to make more of these. =] Maybe some of the level icons...

Unfortunately the picture is a little overexposed and these guys are already on their way to Florida so I can't do much about it. =[

No More Green Peace

It seems I have been stitching a lot of cleavage lately. o_0 Here is Poison Ivy from The Adventures of Batman & Robin on the SNES. Because I had already stitched Harley Quinn and Catwoman, I had to finish the third Gotham girl as well. I really like the pin-up look of this sprite. I just wish Batgirl was in this game. One thing about sprites from this game though is they are very dark. I had to brighten the original image significantly to make it more vivid.

Sprite Stitch September Swap

My swap project was received so I can post it here. I have to admit I love the art from the Final Fantasy games and VI is no exception. I wanted to do something I haven't seen before so instead of everyone's favourite, Kefka, I chose to do Terra and her Esper form. Also Terra is the first female lead character in an FF game, I believe, so girl power and such. =]

Started: September 3, 2010
Finished: September 9, 2010

Size: 2024 stitches

Also, I want to show off what I received in the swap. It was made by Dawn (DMLC) and you can visit her blog here: Anime Stitching. I have to say I love Epona and I haven't seen a stitch of her until now. Thank you, Dawn! ♥

Some Bead Sprites

I finally sent in a bead order so I can make some more bead sprites. I'm also getting Hama beads and PhotoPearls for the first time to increase my pallet of colours. Pokemon seem to use up a lot of certain colours to the point where I can barely make anything new. =P

Here are some thumbnails of a few Pokemon plus my Tetris Attack set which I hope to finish once I get my order:

Tale of the Cat

I actually made a counting error somewhere on this. I couldn't find exactly where so I just improvised instead of scrapping the whole thing. This sprite of Catwoman is from The Adventures of Batman and Robin on the SNES, one of the best Batman games out there. =]

As I was making this Tifa pattern below, PCStitch gave me the following error message. Oh snap! I always knew Tifa's girls had the capacity for such destruction!

Super Nintendo Stitches

The Super Nintendo is definitely my favourite gaming console, probably because it was my first. I've spent countless hours on it and it still runs like it's brand new 17 years later. Here are all the stitches I've done of various SNES games that have not already been posted:

Who remembers Super Ninja Boy?! Probably just my brother and I... I gave this to him for Christmas 2009:

Another favourite game that we played over and over, Pocky and Rocky:

Here are two "cards" from X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse, Gambit and Wolverine:

From the Adventures of Batman and Robin, Harley Quinn:
I am currently working on Catwoman from this game as well.

I recently made this for a wedding gift, Link and Zelda from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past:

And there you have it, all my video game cross stitch work so far. From now on all updates will feature brand new stitches. =]

Past Sprite Stitch Challenges

I credit SpriteStitch.com for kick-starting my video game cross stitching. My first VG cross stitch was for a monthly challenge. This was my contribution for Work in Silhouette:
Somehow I won with an edited screen shot from Aladdin on SNES. =P

Next was Lyrics/Quotations:
I came in third with my Blue Shell Breakdown. The shells are from Mario Kart 64 and the lyrics are from the song "Breakdown" on Use Your Illusion II by Guns N' Roses. ♥

In February 2010, we had a Bookmark challenge:
My bookmark based on the Game Over screen from Kirby's Dreamland 3 on the SNES landed me fourth place.

I just finished my pattern for the next challenge, which will be "Video Game Alphabet". I chose to do my username and have one sprite for each letter. I will be starting the actual stitching shortly...
